“A Memory Lost”. A girl, a pony, what else?

This painting is a rediscovery of a cute childhood's memory with horses, where the Swedish artist Lena Lottsfeldt remembers her experiences with a Shetland pony. When she was a child, she used to ride the pony in her summer home next to the coast.

To express the special relationship that children have with their pony, she chose this familiar feeling of the wind through her hair and the sun on her skin when she was riding the little friend. And at the same time the fur and the warmth of the pony directly in contact with her skin.

A feeling so natural but so powerful.

As the memory of the pony and of the place is a bit unclear, Lena had to rely solely on her memories, and it came naturally to choose an impressionistic style than she usually does nowadays. The use of this technique helped her to give it a more dreaming like feeling.

Her summer house is also where her dad taught her to paint: so, these memories are a symbol for many reasons. Lena chose to keep the colors soft but shining and the light makes the memory positive keeping the moment more tender.

Something about Lena Lottsfeldt and her equine art

Lena Lottsfeldt is based in Wellington, Florida, USA with her husband and two Rhodesian Ridgebacks. She is close to the Equestrian Sport scene in Wellington and her art featured at WEF in the International Club during last winter.

Lena's life has been always surrounded by horses and art: this also because her parents were both artists with a huge talent and creativity and taught Lena the possibility to express herself in many different mediums. Lena has been practicing art her whole life.

She creates full-characters horses where their expressions are clearly visible. Be it the strong graceful dressage horse loving to dance, a fast Polo Pony chasing the ball with their rider, or a foal playing in the field, the importance is showing their will to be with humans and the trust and love they give to all of us.

To convey her emotions and feelings, Lena uses different artistic expressions, but mainly works with acrylic and oil on canvas. However, she loves spending time surrounded by horses and with a camera in hand, always looking for unique moments to capture and then express and portray them on canvas.

Since she has always been around horses, her attention has focused mainly on equestrian art, trying to best praise the majesty of these animals.
