A new horse has arrived at the Horse Museum—a vibrant oil painting by Raffaella Manca, offering her unique interpretation of the horse. With its colors and large, joyful eyes, this artwork has brought a ray of sunshine to our gallery within the Donna Vittori winery and has already been widely appreciated by visitors.
Raffaella Manca is an artist from Sardinia, born in Cagliari, who spent her childhood in beautiful Pula, where the sea meets the sky, and where art, history, and nature come together magically. She began painting at a very young age, quickly developing her own recognizable style, which she describes as hemorrhagic art. This name captures the way color and light pour from her as she begins a painting, sudden and unstoppable, like a hemorrhage.
Her favorite subjects are women, and each one reflects the spirit of Sardinia through distinct strokes and seemingly innocent details. Standing in front of one of her works, if you close your eyes, you can almost sense the fragrance of myrtle and the joy of summer sea light. The colors and light are those of someone raised by the Mediterranean.
At 20, she left the island to live with her family in Colleferro, near Rome, but she carries Sardinia within her and infuses it into her paintings. "Hemorrhage" is her need to transform emotions into painting, to share them with the viewer—and Raffaella Manca’s flood of creativity has filled us with delight.
